Honokaa Takes HHSAA DII Boys Soccer Championship

Honokaa downed Kapaa 4-1 to capture the 2011 HHSAA DII Boys Soccer Championship at the Waipio Soccer Peninsula Stadium. Honokaa scoring came from Joshua Robinson (2), Justin Warren,and Dylan Shiraki. Shiraki was named MVP of the DII tournament.

Honokaa got to the championship by defeating Radford 2-0, and St Anthony 2-1, It was Honokaa's first championship in HHSAA soccer. Honokaa reached the final in 2010 before falling to Mid Pacific Institute.

Kealakehe Captures 2008 BIIF DI Crown

January 26, 2008: Kealakehe defeated Waiakea 1-0 at Keaau High School to capture the 2008 BIIF DI title. Lanakila Ynigues scored the lone goal of the contest for the Waveriders. The Waveriders will now compete in the HHSAA tournament on Oahu. Kealakehe draws a first round bye as the BIIF top seed in DI. Waiakea also qualified for the HHSAA tournament and will play on opening day February 6.

Honokaa surprises regular season Champion Kamehameha in DII

January 26, 2008: Honokaa edged Kamehameha 1-0 at Keaau High School to capture the 2008 BIIF DII title. Ian Laird scored the winning goal for the Dragons who finished the season 11-4. The Dragons avenged a regular season loss to the Warriors (13-2). Both teams will compete in the HHSAA tournament on Oahu. Honokaa earns the top BIIF Seed.

Kealakehe Claims DI Boys BIIF Title

January 17: Kealakehe clinched the BIIF Boys DI title by defeating Kohala 9-0. The win coupled by a loss by Waiakea to Kamehameha propelled Kealakehe to the top. Kealakehe will earn the top seed in the upcoming BIIF DI tournament. Lanakila Ynigues and Michael Miranda scored 3 goals each in the win over Kohala. The Waveriders are coached by Urs Leuenberger. The Waveriders will host Makua Lani on the 21st of January at Kealakehe. While Waiakea the second seed will host Hilo on the same day.  The winners advance to the BIIF Championships at Keeau High School Football Stadium on Saturday the 26th.

Kamehameha Claims DII Boys BIIF Title
Kamehameha recorded a perfect record of 7-0 in DII play for 2008. The Warriors also had an outstanding overall record of 12-1 with interdivisional play. They will host the semifinal game Wednesday the 23rd of January, while second place Honokaa will host the other semifinal game on the same day. The winners of those semifinal games will meet in the BIIF Championships hosted at Keaau High School Football Stadium on Saturday the 26th. With the BIIF regular season title, Kamehameha has earned a spot in the HHSAA Championships.

Kealakeha captures fifth place in HHSAA DI Boys Soccer
February 9, 2008: BIIF Champion Kealakehe finished the HHSAA tournament in style beating Kaiser for fifth place 1-0. The Lanikila Ynigues penalty kick was the games lone goal. The Waveriders had 23 shot on goals while the defense limited Kaiser to only 3 shots. Kelakehe finishes the tournament 2-1 and finishes the season at 17-1.

Honokaa finishes third in HHSAA DII Boys Soccer
February 9, 2008: Honokaa defeated BIIF rival Kamehameha-Hawaii 3-2 in the HHSAA third place game at Waipio Peninsula soccer complex on Oahu. Preston Vierra scored twice and Eric Matsumura the winner for the Dragons. Jordan Lerma and Kamaka Tauati provided the offense for the Warriors. The Dragons finished the HHSAA tournament 2-1. Kamehameha-Hawaii finished the HHSAA tournament 2-2.

HHSAA DII Consolation Championship game ends in draw
February 9, 2008: Christian Liberty and Kailua played to a draw in the HHSAA DII seventh place game on Oahu. Isaac Grotenhuis scored CLA's lone goal. Kailua senior James Crowell scored for the Waveriders.


Kapaa Knocks Honokaa out of DII Championship
February 8, 2008: After a come from behind win over Kauai 7-6 the Dragons fell short to the other Kauai Interscholastic Federation team Kapaa 2-1. Rogelio Maltezo scored on a penalty Kick.

Mid-Pacific ends Kamehameha title run
February 8, 2008: Mid-Pacific of the ILH defeated Kamehameha-Hawaii with a 1-0 victory at the HHSAA DII Tournament played at Waipio Peninsula Soccer complex on Oahu.
Kamehameha will play Honokaa for third place.

Seabury Hall ends HPA season
February 8, 2008: Seabury Hall of the Maui Interscholastic League came from behind to beat HPA on Oahu in the HHSAA DII Boys tournament. The consolation defeat ended the Kamakani season. HPA's Korey Tsubota scored the games first goal. Jacob Sandavol and Kevan Blunt scored for Seabury Hall.

Kealakehe rebounds after quarterfinal loss
February 8, 2008: Kealakehe found some redemption in the HHSAA DI boys soccer tournament by coming back and defeating Roosevelt 5-2 on Oahu. Micah Miranda scored three goals while Raydan Bala and Brandon Sawada rounded out the Waverider scoring. Kealakehe advance to the DI fifth place game.

February 7, 2008: Kamehameha beat Seabury Hall 2-0 in the HHSAA DII quarterfinal game on Oahu. Shawno Auwae and Cameron Castillo scored goals for the Warriors. The Warrior defense preserved the shutout. It was the second shutout for the Kamehameha defense.

Kamehameha-Kapalama hands Kealakehe quarterfinal loss
February 7, 2008: KHS Kapalama defeated Kealakehe 4-0 on Oahu in HHSAA DI quarterfinal play. Ryan Ho (2), Kimo Komomua and Casey Kusaka led the Kamehameha charge. the Waveriders play Roosevelt next.

Christian Liberty defeats McKinley 4-0 in DII Consolation
February 7, 2008: CLA defeated McKinley 4-0 in consolation play in the DII HHSAA tourney on Oahu. Isaac Grotenhuis scored three goals  and Richard Moyland scored goals for Christian Liberty. The Canefire defense along with goalie Nick Ucker got the shutout against the Tigers.

HPA loses in rain called game
February 7, 2008: In a rain shortened game the Kamakani lost to Mid-Pacific 1-0. The game was called due to poor playing conditions caused by rain and thunderstorms. The game was shortened with about 20 minutes left in regulation.

Baldwin ends Waiakea season
February 7, 2008: Baldwin beat Waiakea 3-2 in conosolation play in the HHSAA DI Tournament on Oahu to end Waiakea's (13-5) season. Waiakea erased a 2-0 deficit to tie the game with goals by Jonathan Torigoe and Ian Watanabe. Tommy Barber(2) and Michael Marrs provided the three goals for the Bears of the Maui Interscholastic League.

Kamehameha Wins First Round Game at DII HHSAA Tourney

February 6, 2007: Kamehameha defeated Farrington 3-0 at the HHSAA DII Boys Soccer Tournament at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex. Kamaka Tauati, Cameron Castillo and Xavier Beatty provided the offensive goals for the Warriors. The Kamehameha defense got the shutout against a solid Farrington team.

HPA Defeats Kailua in Round One of DII HHSAA
February 6, 2007: The Kamakani found it's way to a 3-0 victory over the Surfriders of Kailua at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex on Oahu. Todd Powers and Alex Bell provided the offensive goals, While Korey Tsubota controlled the midfield with an assist. for the Kamakani. The defense and goalie Bobby Stomski got the shutout. HPA will now face Farrington of the OIA.

Christian Liberty Falls To Kauai
February 6, 2008: CLA fell to Kauai 4-2 at the HHSAA DII tournament first round action. Isaac Grotenhuis and Richard Moyland led the offensive attack for the Christian Liberty. Kauai kept their offensive pressure on CLA with four goals and made CLA play catch up. CLA will play McKinley in the consolation bracket.

Kaiser Defeats Waiakea
February 6, 2008: Kaiser defeated Waiakea 2-0 in the HHSAA DI tournament at the Waipio Soccer Complex on Oahu. The Cougars wemt ahead on a goal from Beau Stuber and never looked back. The Cougar defense was able to stymie the potent Warrior offense. Waiakea will now play Baldwin in the consolation
